Long before it was Halloween, it was Samhain. The harvest was in. The light was leaving. The old calendar turned a page, and the dark half of the year began.
It was said that on this night the veil between the worlds wore thin. People did what people have always done at a threshold. They reached for something to hold.
Here are four stones to carry through the dark.
Smoky Quartz — To Ground
Some nights ask you to stay close to the earth.
Smoky quartz is the stone of roots. Of weight. Of letting go. Traditionally, it is held to draw away what is heavy and what is no longer yours, and to return it to the ground, where it belongs.
Carry it in your pocket. Hold it when the mind runs ahead of you. Wear it.

Amethyst — To Soften the Dark
Not every night needs a guard. Some need only a gentle hand.
Amethyst is the quiet violet stone, long associated with calm, clear sight and restful sleep. It does not fight the dark. It makes peace with it.
Place one beside your bed on All Hallows' Eve — and let the night be kind.

Black Tourmaline and Black onyx — To Protect
This is the threshold stone. The one at the door.
Black tourmaline has been worn for protection for generations. It is said to hold a boundary, to turn away what is unwelcome, to keep the circle closed. A cross of black tourmaline carries that old promise twice: the stone that guards, in the shape that has always meant sanctuary.
Wear it close. Hang it by the door. Let it stand watch.

Black onyx Protection and Grounding: In crystal healing traditions, black onyx is believed to absorb negative energy, offer emotional strength, and keep the wearer grounded.

Labradorite — To Cross Safely
Look into labradorite and the light moves. Blue, then gold, then gone — the flash of a door opening and closing.
It is called the stone of thresholds, of intuition, of the space between. If Samhain is the night the worlds draw near, labradorite is the one that lets you look across without losing your footing.
Hold it for visions. Hold it for questions. Hold it for the in-between.

A Simple Samhain Ritual
-
At the door: the black tourmaline. Protection first.
-
In the pocket: the smoky quartz. Carry what grounds you.
-
By the bed: the amethyst. Rest easy.
-
In the hand: the labradorite. Ask what you came to ask.
Light a candle. Say what you are letting go. Say what you are keeping.
Then let the dark come in. You are ready for it.
All of those are just suggestions, i do not do them all, you need to use your intuition and only do or wear what calls you , or what seems interesting to you, its good to experiment with new things !
